We are delighted to announce that we will be running two separate week long
Spellcaster Summer Schools!
Week 1: 4th - 8th August 2025
Week 2: 18th - 22nd August 2025
from 9.45am - 5pm -  Garrick's Temple To Shakespeare, Hampton

Do you know a young person who loves stories more than sports?
Who'd rather be lost in a good book than on a long run?
That's 'Teehee' more than P.E.?

There are oodles of holiday clubs aimed at simply keeping youngsters busy - largely via organised sports. SpellCasters Summer School is not that.

Instead, we're offering five days of tailored tuition to a small group of kids who want to hone their performance skills, artistic appreciation and general confidence.

Whilst there are plenty of 'drama clubs', they tend to homogenize artistic expression, often run by people who have never performed professionally themselves; the blind leading the blind. Fine, for those who want to become generic, but lethal for those who aspire to art.

Taking in poetry, meditation, creative writing, performance skills, rehearsal techniques, body awareness, voicework and plenty more besides, SpellCasters Summer School is lead byRufus Hound, who, for over two decades, has operated at the height of British show-business and who knows what it means to be an artist in the modern world. This isn't a week of learning how to be a better actor, presenter, comedian or writer - it's a week of learning how to grow one's authenticity, intention and understanding in the pursuit of making works that excel.

As we increasingly drown in a world of 'content', understanding what art is, why it matters and how to make it has never been more important, if we're to shepherd kids away from a world where everything is inhuman, meaningless and disposable.

Program

Each day consists of a four sessions, loosely described as:

- Play
- Creation
- Focus
- Understanding

Within these sessions, we'll consider:
      - The Magic Within
      - Dynamism (don't be boring)
      - The Life of Meaning/The Meaning of Life
      - Language as a spectrum
      - The Right to be Wrong
      - Play's the Thing
      - The Joy of Tricks
      - Jokes: The Deadliest Weapon-
      - Why does everyone bang on about Shakespeare?
... and much else besides

At the end of the week, loved ones will be invited to come and see a show of the work and performances that we've created - testament to the fun had, the progress made and the lessons learned.

Whether you've a young person who wants to be an actor, presenter, content creator, artist, writer, comedian or just someone who can speak from the heart with confidence - SpellCasters Summer School is for them.

So, in a nutshell, a holiday club to engage creative, funny kids in the joy of being smart, clear and silly with words. There's nothing quite like this on offer anywhere in the world. It may not be for every kid, but as a parent you'll know that if this sounds like it's right for a special kid in your life, it'll be... well ... magical!

Fee for the week is £399 per person, plus a £25 materials pack, payable in advance.
